Financing dental, medical and veterinary equipment

Equipment for a practice is financed like any other business equipment, and the whole fit-out can usually sit under one arrangement rather than just the headline machine. That matters here, because a practice is rarely one purchase. What you pay each month depends on the equipment, what it costs, the term you choose and how long the practice has been running, so a real indicative figure for your actual setup, which takes about two minutes, is worth more than any range on a page.

It is rarely just the one machine

This is the thing most practices find when they start pricing it up. Fitting out or upgrading a practice is the headline item, the chair, the imaging unit, the surgical or diagnostic equipment, and then the things around it: the cabinetry and fit-out, the sterilisation gear, the IT and practice-management systems, sometimes the vehicle.

Bought separately, that becomes several purchases spread across several months, each competing for cash while the practice is trying to open or keep running. Financed together, it is one arrangement and one monthly figure covering the setup rather than the single machine.

Tell us what the full setup looks like, including the parts that are not the headline equipment. It is usually a better conversation than pricing the one unit alone.

Who finances practice equipment

Dental practices for chairs, imaging, CAD/CAM and sterilisation. Medical and allied-health practices for diagnostic and treatment equipment, consulting fit-outs and imaging. Veterinary clinics for surgical tables, anaesthetic and monitoring gear, imaging, and the kennel and consult fit-out. The practices look different and the finance question is the same in all of them: a capable setup costs more than most practices want to find in cash, and it starts earning as soon as it is in use.

Why practices finance rather than buy outright

Two reasons come up most often.

The first is that the equipment earns from the day it is installed. A new chair or imaging unit is seeing patients in its first week, which is not true of every cost a practice carries. Financing lines the cost up against the earnings rather than paying for the earnings in advance.

The second is that practices are often adding or upgrading capability, a new treatment room, a second chair, bringing imaging in-house, rather than making a one-off replacement. That is exactly the case where tying up cash is least attractive, because the new capability needs staff and time as well as equipment.

What we will not tell you

Which equipment to buy, what is right for your clinical work, or how the regulations and professional obligations apply to your practice. Those are questions for the manufacturer, your professional body and your own judgement, and anyone in finance who answers them confidently is out of their depth.

What we can do is fund the setup once you know what you need.

What changes what you pay

The total cost of the setup, the term you choose, and how long the practice has been operating. Figures are ex GST.

On structure, the two most common are a chattel mortgage, where you own the equipment from day one, and Rent to Own, where you rent across the term then own it for a further payment or two. See the difference between them if you are deciding.

How any of it is treated in your accounts, and for your practice entity, depends on your circumstances, and your accountant is the right person to confirm it.

Common questions

Can I finance the fit-out and IT as well as the equipment?

Yes. The chair or machine, the cabinetry and fit-out, the sterilisation gear, the IT and practice systems can sit under one arrangement rather than being bought separately.

Does it matter whether I am dental, medical or vet?

No. Dental, medical, allied-health and veterinary practices finance the same way. What matters is the equipment and the practice, not the field.

What if I am adding a room or a second chair to an existing practice?

That is one of the most common situations we see. Tell us what the setup costs and what the practice does now, and we can work through it.

Do you advise on which equipment to buy?

No. That is a question for the manufacturer and your own clinical judgement. We arrange the finance once you know what you need.

How long can I finance it over?

The term is yours to choose, and the right one depends on the equipment and how you expect to use it. Someone from our team will talk it through.

I recently financed a new Roland XP-640 printer and Signeasy laminator through Roland Eco Lease and couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

I dealt with Eddie Holland, who was fantastic throughout the entire process. Eddie was professional, friendly and easy to deal with, making everything straightforward and hassle-free. Communication was excellent, and the whole process went smoothly from start to finish.

I'm extremely happy with the service I received and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Eddie and Roland Eco Lease to anyone looking at financing new equipment.

Thanks again, Eddie, for making the whole experience so easy!
